Just an interesting chapter

This morning, one more short chapter of my life wrote itself. It all started during a regular morning walk with my dog, Ember. For some reason, I was feeling anxious and fearful. I was in my neighborhood in the morning sun, on a walk I take most mornings. Nothing was out of place or looked unusual. But the feelings continued.

I want to be very clear that my phone was in one of my pockets while I walked, the way it is on every one of my twice-a-day walks. In all that time, nothing strange has happened. But today I heard my phone start to ring as if I was making a call. I pulled out my phone and saw that it had called 911.

Before I could stop the call, a woman answered and asked what my emergency was. I stuttered, tried to explain, and apologize for the accidental call. She was very nice, and I ended the call, wondering how that had happened. A few minutes later, my phone rang with a call from a different woman at emergency services, checking to make sure I was actually safe. This time, I thanked this woman profusely for checking on me, assuring her that I was perfectly safe.

This time, when I hung up the phone, the sense of fear and anxiety disappeared. This morning, as I was filled with an unexplained fear, I was connected with emergency services twice, just a few minutes apart. And the fear disappeared.

As odd as this sounds, it felt like some spiritual guardian was intervening, assuring me that I was safe. Perhaps it was just a bizarre accident, but I choose to believe there was some other energy intervening in my day. Something that assured me that I was not alone, and that comfort was always just moments away.
